By Jan Becker

I have been practicing Falun Dafa for over 10 years. I was drawn to the practice initially by the exercises, which are very gentle, but have amazing energy.

I didn’t start reading Zhuan Falun, written by Mr. Li Hongzhi, until three months later. The teachings have answered many of the questions I had on life and the universe. Now, over the years, I have been amazed at the changes in myself both physically and mentally.

Doing the meditation and exercises, and following the three principles of Falun Dafa, which are Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, has given me the opportunity for personal improvement and I have been able to apply them to both my everyday life and my work as a human resources manager.

Prior to commencing the practice, I was under the care of a major Melbourne hospital for a serious respiratory condition, which was in the TB/leprosy family. The disease was not contagious, but was considered fatal, and I could feel myself fading away. After six months of practicing Falun Dafa, I decided to put all my faith in my practice and I have not been to a doctor since—for anything!

My boss, who I have worked with for 17 years, has been extremely supportive. He told me that even though he has trained in the physical sciences, he can see that, through the metaphysical, clearly something very positive has happened to me.

No one, including my family and friends, expected me to be here today and personally, I feel 10 years younger than when I commenced Falun Dafa. My energy levels and my enthusiasm for life have completely changed.

People around me are very supportive of Dafa because they can see that I am a healthier and more caring person.
Tiananmen Square

Six months after I began practicing Falun Dafa, China banned the practice and the terrible persecution of practitioners in China began. To show my support, especially as a Westerner, I decided, along with eight other Australians, to go to China in 2002 to show our support for the Chinese practitioners and what was happening to them.

I felt that as an Olympian, I could maybe have some impact through the media, informing the rest of the world what was really being hidden from them. In Tiananmen Square, to be able to repeatedly shout from my heart that Falun Dafa is good was an honor. I knew this was part of my journey and I wasn’t in the least bit scared.
Beijing Olympics

China promised to change if they got the Olympics in 2008 and I saw a great opportunity for the International Olympic Committee to make that happen. Instead, they went against the principles of the Olympic Charter and the code of ethics. In my eyes, and I am sure many others also feel as I do, the Olympics have been diminished and I am ashamed at numerous things that occurred.

I could go into so many issues of cruelty and upheaval that occurred to the Chinese people because of the Olympics. Even today, there are still practitioners and other people trying to assist with people’s rights in China who remain imprisoned because of the Olympics. The international media did little about it too.

We, as human beings, need to consider what the important things in life are. To me, the sanctity of life and respect for human dignity override all other aspects, including trade, profit and sport, even at the Olympic level.

I personally feel it is disgusting what is going on and I sincerely hope that the world can stand as one to end the persecution of this beautiful and beneficial practice.

Olympian Jan Becker

Jan Becker competed for Australia in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics as part of the silver medal winning freestyle relay team. SOS Be More Diligent

Be diligent in whatever you do, especially things that are important to you, things that gave you the purpose and meaning of life. It is inevitable that we will slack once in a while, but we must always keep in our mind and heart, what matter most to you. No matter how great a motivation one may get, if it is from the external, it will not last long. However, if one starts from the inner (your heart and mind) and persistently remind ourselves to achieve or attain whatever that is important to us, the internal motivation will keep us going strong.

Some say meditation is good for the mind. I say, try it yourself, experience it, put in the effort, you may experience positive changes. Time well spent. Try the half an our meditation in www.falundafa.org in Exercise 5.

Have a great weekend. Time is precious. Value it, don't waste it, because life is short. Seize the day.

SOS Hearts and Minds uplifted!

Why People Practice Falun Dafa

In almost every corner of the globe you can find people of all ages and from all walks of life practicing Falun Dafa. The vast majority of them experience significant improvements in many areas of their lives, including personal feelings, relationships, job satisfaction, and health. In living by the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance (the principles of Falun Dafa, also expressed in English as Truth-Compassion-Forbearance) many people have discovered a positive state of being they had never before imagined possible.

A published collection of short articles, Hearts and Minds Uplifted, describes the tremendous personal growth that can be achieved by cultivating one's character through practicing Falun Gong. The accounts presented in this volume represent only a tiny fraction of those who have benefited from letting go of their attachments and elevating their hearts and minds, giving them renewed lives of spiritual and physical well-being.

We invite you to read their stories to discover for yourself why so many people practice Falun Dafa.

SOS How far can a spaceship travel?

No matter how far a spaceship can fly, it can never travel beyond the physical existence where human exist.

The Theory of the "Big Bang" remains a theory, just like the Theory of Darwin (evolution of human), which cannot be substantiated with solid proof. In fact, there are sufficient hard evidences that dispel the Darwin Theory, like the existence of a drawing on the rock which has drawing of a human being wearing proper cloth and using a telescope. The rock can be traced by science of more than a few million years old.

No, matter what, science has proven that they have detected other dimensions. Is there a dimension between the gap of a atom and a neutron?

SOS "Shake"

NTDTV oil painting

The gold winning painting "Shake" by Michelle Chen of Canada.

"I started this painting with the hope to illustrate what is happening in China right now," said gold winner Michelle Chen from Canada. Her piece, titled "Shake," portrays the scene in a modern Chinese jail house, where a practitioner of the spiritual practice Falun Gong had been beaten because of the Chinese regime's campaign to eradicate the faith. Though the theme is dark, ultimately, the painting's message is one of hope.

In the scene the woman, dressed in white, levitates in meditation as her jailers look on in shock. "She is so beautiful even though she's been shackled. She's serene and compassionate," Chen said. "Some of the police are shaken, one is kneeling in reverence, and others are afraid of what they see."

SOS Good News 99.8million renounced from CCP and its affiliates

Thousands Rally to Celebrate Tuidang

A movement that disintegrates the Chinese Communist Party is underway

Quitting the Chinese Communist Party

WASHINGTON—"A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step," said philosopher Lao Tzu. On July 15, nearly 4,000 Chinese activists, persecuted individuals and citizens took a step for the Tuidang movement. They gathered at the Washington Monument.

The movement invites people to reject the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), as a start toward a free China. It began after the Epoch Times published a series of editorials in 2004 called the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. They detailed the ruthless nature and history of the Party. According to a previous Epoch Times article, the “Nine Commentaries” concludes with the words: “Without the Chinese Communist Party, the upright and kindhearted Chinese people will rebuild China’s historical magnificence.” Individuals responded, first with letters to the editor, then with thousands, then millions of statements, rejecting the CCP.

A bipartisan Senate resolution, S. Res. 232, was introduced last week. Co-sponsored by Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), it asked the U.S. government to support "the Tuidang Movement, whereby the Chinese citizens renounce their ties to the CCP and its affiliates." The movement started seven years ago. It has inspired almost 100 million Chinese people to renounce their memberships in either the Party or its related groups, such as the Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League. A statement from Menendez commended “volunteers and participants of the Tuidang movement for their peaceful pursuit of a fair and open government, a free people, and a society rooted in the practice of virtue.”

A Bloody History

As the biggest totalitarian regime in the world, the Chinese Communist Party has led a series of attacks on the Chinese people and their culture for 62 years. Dr. Charles Lee, spokesman for the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party, said that the regime has constantly persecuted its people since it came to power. The Party's brutal deeds included the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two nationwide political campaigns in the 1960s and 1970s that led to a deadly famine and the killing of intellectuals, religious believers, and many others.

QUITTING THE CCP: Wei Jingsheng speaks at rally in Washington, on Friday, July 15. The number of people who have denounced their ties from the Party will soon reach 100 million. 'This is a crucial point in the history,' said Jingsheng Wei, a prominent Chinese democracy activist. (Photo Alex Ma/The Epoch Times)
"In 1989, as military tanks rolled over the bodies of innocent student protesters on Tiananmen Square, the Chinese lost their hope in democratic reforms by the government," said Lee. He was speaking of why Chinese people are seeking a solution outside of Party rule. "Throughout its history the Chinese Communist Party has killed so many people, a number that exceeds the death toll of both world wars," said Lee. "Such crimes are against heaven, earth, and its people."

Lee has personal experience of those crimes. Between 2003 and 2006, he was tortured while in detention in China. The American citizen was captured as soon as he landed in China, suspected of traveling from California to counter the propaganda campaign against Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa). An international "Rescue Charles" campaign spanned his three years of imprisonment.

"We ask all those who have already withdrawn from the CCP to help speed up the disintegration of the Party by helping other fellow Chinese [quit]," said Lee.

The rally condemned certain Chinese officials. Former President Jiang Zemin, who started the ongoing persecution against spiritual group Falun Gong a decade ago, has been sued for genocide in more than 20 countries. The persecution systematically put millions of practitioners of Falun Gong to jails and labor camps, where many of them suffered severe torture. "Bringing people like Jiang to court ensures that justice still exists," said Dr. Dayong Lee, chair of the Coalition for Bringing Jiang Zemin to Justice.

Seeking A New Start

Today, statements denouncing the Chinese Communist Party by people from all walks of life are posted on streets in China and online. Although the CCP made it a tradition for all citizens to join the Party at a young age, voices against oppression and supporting a regime change have emerged through the Tuidang movement.

"The people of China have awakened," said Biaoqiao Tang, spokesman for the Interim Government of China. "We decided for ourselves that our children will not be the slaves of the CCP."

The number of people that have repudiated the Party will soon reach 100 million. "This is a crucial point in history," said prominent Chinese democracy activist Jingsheng Wei. "I am glad to see young people joining this movement. We are up for a big change."

Others gave encouraging words. "We are here to show our solidarity and respect to our Chinese friends who are raising awareness of human rights atrocities committed by the Chinese Communist Party," said Dr. Quan Nguyen, chairman of the Delegation of Vietnamese Communities. "Let's give a big hand to the 100 million heroes."

Over a dozen elected officials sent their greetings to the participants of the Rally, including Kwame Brown, chairman of the Capital City Council.

Patrick Forrest, former senior official at the Department of Homeland Security and currently running for the 32nd district Virginia State Senate, said that the path to freedom was "seldom easy but attainable" and "not only meaningful for us, but [for] our children as well."

He continued, "I take that single step today to associate with all those like you who treasure and strive ceaselessly for human rights and fundamental freedom. We commit ourselves to cheering before you, rallying with you, and standing beside you." Then he said three times, "Falun Dafa hao," which is Chinese for "Falun Dafa is good."

SOS China Before June 1999

This is a common sight in China before Falun Gong was banned in June 1999. The first two pictures are the practice by children. Do you think their parents will allow their children to practice if they find it is harmful themselves?

Imagine living under Chinese Communist Party, one does not have the right of religion or spiritual belief? Isn't it the basic rights of a human being?
